  SADAOC stands for the French acronym of Sustainable Food Security in Central West Africa (Sécurité Alimentaire Durable en Afrique de l'Ouest Centrale). It is a sub-regional organization which undertakes a series of policy-oriented research and dialogue activities through its National Réseaux comprised of multidisciplinary alliances of research institutes, universities, government institutions and non-governmental organizations, all of which are concerned with food security in West Africa. The National Réseaux of the five member-countries situated in Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana, Mali, Togo constitute the Regional or International Réseau known as Réseau SADAOC.

  Created in 1991 with the help of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the government of Burkina Faso, UERD today makes up an international francophone team of ten full-time researchers. Its reputation for excellence stems from its multi-disciplinary approach towards applied research. It has recognised expertise in three fields: reproductive health; women and poverty; population and development strategies.
