Context

Under Vision 2030, Kenya aims to increase annual GDP growth rates to an average of 10% over the Vision horizon. One way of increasing the GDP is by value addition of agricultural products through processing before they reach the markets, and in such a way that they compete with the best in other parts of the world. Value addditon of horticultural products will also minimize postharvest losses of these valuable commodities hence contribute to achieving food security.

Proposed interventions to horticultural value chains include, but not limited to:-

  Good Agricultural Practices

Global GAP

Preservation /Post-harvest handling

Agro-processing, value-addition and packaging

Good Manufacturing Practices

Capacity for business development
