Seychelles Agricultural Agency (SAA)

 

The government of Seychelles established the Seychelles Agricultural Agency (SAA) in the 2008 A body Corporate: legally united to act as one.
 
Objectives of the SAA
 

To facilitate and support the enhancement of National Food Security;

To facilitate the increase of contribution of agriculture in the Country’s GDP;

To facilitate the modernization and development of the agricultural sector.


Functions of the SAA

 

Assist in the formulation and implementation of

NationalAgricultural Policies;

 

Support the development of agricultural sector through

technical assistance and services;

 

Facilitate formal and informal training of sector  personnel;

 

Facilitate the achievement of agricultural production and

targets set out in the ADS 2007 – 2011 and the FSS 2008-2011;

 

Assist with adequate stocks of agro inputs;

 

Implement programmes and projects in agriculture;

 

Participate in national and international meetings.

 

MANAGEMENT STRUCTURE

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

 

The SAA Responsible to implement policies under the

guidance of a Board which Control and manage daily

operation of the SAA.

SAA’s Board (3 –year office bearers) comprising of :

 
CEO;
A senior officer of parent Ministry (chairperson);
A senior officer of Ministry of Environment;
A senior officer of Ministry of Finance;
A representative of SCCI;
A representative of IDC;
A representative of Sey FA
